Edith Katiji WeUtonga scoops a N.A.M.A

We know her as the only practicing female bass player in Zimbabwe but Edith has had a career in theater spanning over a number of years.  Edith WeUtonga as we all know her has for years supported the F.L.A.M.E Project, making appearances at Sistaz Open Mic with her band to support the upcoming musicians as well as dedicating time to empower young women artists through the Sistaz Open Mic Workshops were she facilitates on Dealing with the Band, Audience & Crew.
 Over the years Edith has appeared in a number of theater and film productions including Tomorrow's People, Waiting for the new Constitution, most recently in Playing Warriors, a film by Rumbi Katedza and in the theater production The Comeback which won her Outstanding Actress in 2011 at the NAMA awards held on Saturday, the 18th of February.  F.L.A.M.E congratulates Edith on this befitting achievement, making her one of the only four women winning awards on the day.  The other three being Caroline Mashingaidze who won  Outstanding Actress in the Film & Television category, Violet Masilo for Outstanding First Creative Published Work for her book The African Tea Cosy and Michelle Nativel (National Ballet) who scooped two awards for
Outstanding Female Dance & People's choice Awards in Dance.  Congratulations to all these four women for being pacesetters for the young and upcoming artists.
